New Video Highlights OPPO R15's Design, Shows Camera Bump

Another promotional video that highlights the design of the OPPO R15 has been released, a day after OPPO shared official teasers for the OPPO R15. Much like the promotional videos and renders which were recently released by OPPO, the new teaser highlights the handset’s display, which has an aspect ratio of 18:9, as well as the notch located above the screen. The notch contains a front-facing selfie shooter and an earpiece of the device. The video also shows that the handset’s dual rear cameras are located near the upper left corner of the device, and it can also be observed that the side frame of the smartphone contains the antenna bands and it is slightly curved.

Earlier rumors indicated that the OPPO R15 will be powered by the Helio P60 chipset from the Taiwanese semiconductor firm MediaTek. This chipset is comprised of an octa-core 64-bit CPU running at a maximum clock speed of 2.0GHz, and the Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. The SoC also includes a dedicated AI Processing Unit which permits the smartphone to offer features like face recognition and identification of scenes and objects. The leak also indicates that the handset will include 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage, although there is no information yet on whether or not the handset will support expandable storage. Two videos released yesterday show that the OPPO R15 will sport a rear-facing fingerprint scanner for quickly unlocking the device.

The leak further indicates that the OPPO R15 will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed, although it is likely that the device maker’s proprietary skin, ColorOS, will run on top of Google’s operating system. There is no available information yet regarding the launch date of the OPPO R15, although the release of promotional videos may mean that the announcement may take place in the near future. Based on the official teasers released by the manufacturer, the upcoming smartphones will be available in red and black color options, while the ‘Dream Mirror Edition’ of the OPPO R15 had also been mentioned. That variant of the device will ship with a glass back, it seems, at least if rumors are to be believed.
