The Japanese smartphone manufacturer, Sony, has clarified that only one variant of the Sony Xperia XZ2 includes 6GB of RAM. The variant of the smartphone with 6GB of RAM can be identified through model number H8296 dual-SIM, while other hardware variants of the device contain 4GB of RAM. In addition, the device maker enumerated the LTE bands supported by the H8296 dual-SIM model of the Xperia XZ2. Among the LTE bands that this model of the device supports include the FDD-LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 26, 28, 29, 32, and 66, as well as the TDD-LTE bands 38, 39, 40, and 41. For US-based consumers, this means that the H8296 dual-SIM model of the device supports 2 LTE bands utilized by Sprint, which are bands 26 and 41, and it is compatible with all the LTE bands used by AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.
Aside from the difference in the size of RAM, the H8296 dual-SIM model of the Xperia XZ2 is expected to sport the same specifications as the other models of the smartphone. The Sony Xperia XZ2 is powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset from the semiconductor firm Qualcomm. This SoC is comprised of an octa-core Kryo 385 CPU and the Adreno 630 GPU. The handset sports a 5.7-inch display with HDR support, a resolution of 2160 by 1080 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The device contains 64GB of internal flash storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card with a capacity of up to 400GB. The rear camera of the Xperia XZ2 is equipped with a 19-megapixel snapper with an aperture size of f/2.0. This camera is capable of recording 4K HDR video and it can also capture short slow-motion video clips at a frame rate of 960fps. The front-facing selfie shooter, on the other hand, has a 5-megapixel sensor with an aperture size of f/2.2 and a 23mm wide-angle lens. To keep its lights on, the handset includes a 3,180mAh non-removable battery, and it also supports fast wireless charging.
Software-wise, the Sony Xperia XZ2 ships with Android Oreo pre-installed. Moreover, there were also improvements made to the 3D creator app, which made it easier for users to produce a 3D rendering of themselves. The handset also supports the Advanced X-Reality technology, which is the same technology that upscales SDR content to HDR in the Japanese tech firm’s TV sets.
Sony confirmed to us that only the H8296 dual SIM variant of the Xperia XZ2 supports 6GB RAM.
