OUKITEL has just released a new promo video for its upcoming handset, the OUKITEL WP5000. That handset was shown off at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, where the company shared some tidbits about the phone, but not all the necessary info, as we still do not have a full spec sheet for the device. Having said that, this new video is meant to show that the OUKITEL WP5000 is able to withstand ice cold and really hot water without a problem.
If you check out the embedded video down below, you will be able to see OUKITEL’s test water test. The company has decided to test the OUKITEL WP5000 by putting it in a freezer in a bucket of water. After a while, the phone was taken out, all frozen, but that didn’t really harm it, as it continued functioning without a problem. The second test that the company conducted, shows that you can put the phone in boiling a bucket with plenty of really hot water which you’ve boiled beforehand, and the device will be just fine. The third, and last test that the company conducted includes mud, as the phone was thrown into mud, and covered by mud, which didn’t harm it either, as it was cleaned up in a nearby lake and continued functioning normally. Needless to say, the OUKITEL WP5000 is a rugged smartphone, it is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, while it is also shockproof. OUKITEL claims that it is also drop-resistant up to 1.2m, so it probably won’t break if you drop it, though dropping it on purpose is not recommended, of course.
The OUKITEL WP5000 is made out of metal and military tri-proof plastic. This handset comes with a dual camera setup on its back, and it sports a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Its design is kind of interesting, as you’ll hardly find a phone that looks like it out there. In any case, this smartphone sports a 5.7-inch display with an 18:9 display aspect ratio, though we still do not know its resolution. MediaTek’s Helio P25 64-bit octa-core SoC fuels this phone, while the device sports 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. A 5,000mAh non-removable battery is also a part of the package, and the company says that it will become available for purchase by the end of March.
