Fans of the hit HBO series Westworld are getting a brand new Android game based on the series and pre-registrations are open now. As fans of the series may or may not have guessed, the entire premise of the game centers around the player taking on the role of a brand new employee at Delos. That means they’ll be tasked with creating A.I.-driven robotic Hosts to entertain guests of the park across several locations and help their wildest fantasies come true. The entire system is also built by Westworld’s creators. So the overall feel of the game should stay pretty close to the TV series and some iconic locations will be making an appearance, including Sweetwater, Escalante, and Las Mudas.
As to gameplay itself, there are no fewer than 170 A.I Hosts to be created and each has its own customizations that can be made as players push to satisfy guests’ needs. They can also progress and evolve but players will need to diagnose problems and perform maintenance to fix any glitches that arise in their Hosts. Hosts are matched with park patrons to satisfy desires ranging from romantic encounters to robberies and more. At the same time, the park itself will need to be seen to, with players unlocking new locations, in addition to filling out and optimizing their current location to put the guests’ needs first.
As is often the case, those who pre-register will gain some in-game extras as a thank you from the developers. Those gifts, however, need to be earned. More will become available as more people sign up but, as of this writing, only the first has been unlocked – with around 250,000 pre-registrations. The bonus unlocks early access to Lawrence as a playable character. Registrations need to climb as high as 1 million to unlock all of the bonuses starting with a “Coins & Gems Pack” at 500,000 signups, followed by a “Basic Host Code Pack” at 750,000, and ending with a “Crafting Pack.” Presumably, that means there will be in-app purchases for these items, with crafting items being particularly difficult to come by.
