Samsung Will Debut Its 2018 QLED TV Lineup Next Week

Samsung is planning to debut its new lineup of QLED TV’s next week in New York City. This first look event will take place on March 7 at around 11:30AM Eastern time, and will take place at the American Stock Exchange. Samsung notes that you can keep up with the event on its social media networks and through its newsroom.

Typically, Samsung unveils its new lineup of televisions at CES in January, but the company did not unveil these TV’s in Las Vegas this year, and instead are opting for a slightly later event in March. Instead, at CES Samsung unveiled a 144-inch micro LED TV, that did catch a lot of attention. These new QLED TVs from Samsung, however, should be available for purchase in the next month or so, from the usual retailers – that includes Amazon, B&H Photo, Best Buy and even Samsung’s own online store. Samsung has been using QLED panels in its products for a little over a year now. While it debuted QLED TVs in 2017, it wasn’t until 2018 that it began debuting QLED monitors and even displays for the automobile with HARMAN.

Samsung has been sticking with QLED panels lately, as it believes that QLED is better for these larger display products, than its OLED technology, which it uses on its mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. Which leaves LG and Sony as the only OLED TV makers out there (and Sony only has one model, while LG has a whole lineup). QLED TVs do look rather nice, but not as nice as an OLED TV, which will cost a bit more money. It’ll be interesting to see the prices of these new TVs from Samsung next week, and what sizes Samsung does decide to launch these in. At this event, Samsung likely won’t announce specific pricing and availability, so be prepared for that. And since Samsung is debuting these at the American Stock Exchange on Wednesday, this won’t be the typical press event where media outlets are able to attend and get hands on with the new TV models. But Wednesday should be a pretty exciting day, for anyone looking to buy a new TV in the near future.
