Vivo V9 Arrives To India With Face Unlocking, Display Notch

Vivo had introduced its Vivo V9 smartphone yesterday in China, and the device has just arrived to India as well. Only a day after its initial launch, Vivo opted to host a press conference in India, and the company has announced the exact same smartphone as in China. The phone is made out of metal and glass, while it sports a display notch, like many other Chinese smartphones these days. Its display notch is considerably smaller than the one on the iPhone X, though, and the phone’s bezels are also quite thin. The thickest bezel on the Vivo V9 sits below its display, while all other are almost non-existent.

Having said that, a vertically-aligned dual-camera setup is included on the back of the phone, and the same can be said for a fingerprint scanner, and an LED flash. The company’s branding is also present on the back of the Vivo V9, while all of its physical keys sit on the right. A SIM card tray is available on the left, and it actually houses three slots, two for nano SIM cards, and one for a microSD card, just in case you’d like to expand the Vivo V9’s storage. A 3,260mAh non-removable battery is also a part of the offering, and the device sports a 6.3-inch fullHD+ (2280 x 1080) IPS display. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 626 64-bit octa-core processor fuels the Vivo V9, while the device packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the phone, along with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 4.0. 16 and 5-megapixel snappers sit on the back of the device, while a 24-megapixel shooter can be found on the phone’s front.

Now, as part of the phone’s software, you will get the AI Face Beauty feature which is supposed to improve your selfies, while face unlocking is also available here, via the front-facing camera. AR stickers are a part of the package as well, while the device comes in Pearl Black, Champagne Gold, and Sapphire Blue color variants. The Vivo V9 is priced at Rs. 22,900 ($352) in India, and you can already pre-order it via Amazon India and Fonearena, if you’d like, while it’s also available from a number of offline retailers. The phone will go on sale on April 2, in case you were wondering. Now, if you’d like to take a closer look at the device, check out our hands-on coverage with the Vivo V9.
