Online news aggregator Flipboard is expanding on its technology news offerings and introducing new ways to share that news with others. That’s according to a new listing on the company’s official website. For those who aren’t already aware, Flipboard is an editorial tool which pools news from external sources. Those are delivered to end users and readers based on algorithms derived from their own preferences for the types of news on offer. Following this expansion, those who follow Technology will see a much wider variety of curated content including stories, videos, books, products, and podcasts. Moreover, that will include packages, collections, and roundups of content from publishers, which will be continually updated. A “Top Stories” collection will always be visible in that section, acting as a real-time news feed of the most recent developments in the tech industry. Meanwhile, content will be delivered both on the web and in the official Flipboard app, as well as in a short-form summarization via a morning email.
That curated content is slated to be comprehensive, covering both shorter reads and deep-dives into a given topic, tech product, or book – including reviews. However, Flipboard is also making it easier to share it all. Flipboard users will be able to create a “team magazine” of whatever content fits their needs to share with others. The company points to this as a great way to share content with work acquaintances – since it will allow for a comprehensive update on the most recent news about whatever topic might be relevant to a given workplace. Those can be shared via email, text, or messengers such as Slack. Best of all, those team magazines will be delivered every weekday via a customized newsletter which also contains the viewer’s personalized Technology feed and top stories. On Saturdays, those emails will shift focus to book recommendations within the category and links to buy those on Amazon.
Not only does all of this add up to a much more comprehensive overview of the industry. The addition of sharing tools and Team Magazines should make Flipboard a go-to tool for professionals in the technology industry to help keep their team up-to-date with new trends and breaking news.
