After bringing its P20 line of smartphones to China recently, Huawei seems all set to introduce it in India. The company has started teasing the launch on its social media channels showing the camera prowess of the P20 Pro that comes sporting three rear cameras. The said triple-camera setup scored the highest in DxoMark’s camera tests outperforming any other smartphone in the industry. On the basis of these camera capabilities, Huawei compared its newest flagship to a DSLR in the teaser video. However, the teaser doesn’t clearly state whether the company will announce only the Pro variant or the regular P20 will also be announced alongside.
Soon after introducing the P20 series last month in Paris, Huawei India’s website had got both the devices listed with the “Coming Soon to India” caption. After the March 27 event, the smartphone maker launched the devices in its home country China only recently on April 12. Soon after that, the company’s Indian arm started teasing the P20 series suggesting an imminent launch in the South Asian market. With its newest flagships, Huawei is also embracing the notch design, enabling it to push the display further towards the edges. Both the devices have a fingerprint scanner placed on the front itself on the bottom bezel, which hasn’t been entirely removed. The company also introduced a special Twilight color for these two devices that adds a gradient hue to their glass back.
Besides a dual-camera setup, the Huawei P20 features a 5.8-inch IPS LCD display offering an FHD+ resolution in a rather unconventional 18.7:9 aspect ratio. Fueled by a Kirin 970 octa-core SoC, the phone includes 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and comes pre-loaded with EMUI 8.1 running over Android 8.1 Oreo. It packs a 3,400mAh battery inside a slim body with 7.65mm thickness and 165 grams of weight. On the other hand, the Pro model gets an OLED display panel measuring 6.01 inches in the same 18.7:9 aspect ratio and resolution. It is powered by the same Kirin 970 processor, but there is 6GB of RAM included in the device with 128GB of flash memory. The Pro model is also IP67-certified and gets a larger 4,000mAh battery. The Huawei P20 was priced at €649 (Rs. 52,532) in Europe, while the price for the P20 Pro was €899 (Rs. 72,778).
