A new leak claims that the Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-G8750 will be marketed as the Samsung Galaxy S8 Lite while the device with the model number SM-G8850 will be called as the Galaxy A8 Star. This information came from the industry insider MMDJ_, and this leak somewhat confirms earlier reports which mention that the South Korean device maker is developing a more affordable version of its 2017 flagship offering.

Earlier leaks have provided details regarding the specifications of the two upcoming smartphones from the South Korean tech giant. Previous reports claim that the Galaxy S8 Lite will be powered by the Snapdragon 660 chipset from the semiconductor firm Qualcomm. This SoC is comprised of an octa-core Kryo 260 CPU and the Adreno 512 GPU. The handset will likely contain 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage. In addition, the smartphone is expected to sport a display with a resolution of 2220 by 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. There is no available information yet regarding the screen size of this device, although it has been reported that this handset will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. However, Samsung’s proprietary skin will likely run on top of Google’s operating system.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A8 Star has already passed through the certification process of the Chinese telecommunications regulator TENAA two weeks ago, and the website of the regulator has also provided details regarding the design of the upcoming smartphone. The images included with the handset’s listing on the regulator’s website shows that the rear panel of the handset will contain the fingerprint sensor and a dual rear camera setup. The two rear cameras are arranged vertically and it is placed near the upper left corner of the back panel. The listing also mentions that the handset will sport a 6.3-inch OLED display, and the device will also include 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage, which could be expanded using a microSD card with a capacity of up to 256GB. In addition, reports mention that the rear cameras of the device will be equipped with one 24-megapixel sensor and one 16-megapixel sensor, while the TENAA listing claims that the front-facing selfie shooter will have a 24-megapixel snapper. To keep its lights on, the handset includes a 3,700mAh battery.
