Motorola is expected to bring its latest Moto G and Moto E smartphone lineups to the United States in the coming weeks, but according to a recent listing on the OEM’s official website for the region, not every one of the newly introduced models will be released in the country, with both the standard Moto E5 and the top-tier Moto G6 Plus missing from the list. As for the Moto G6, Moto G6 Play, Moto E5 Play, and the Moto E5 Plus, they are virtually confirmed to hit the U.S. market and their respective registration pages are currently up and running for prospective buyers wanting to remain up to date with Motorola’s launch plans.
Hardware and software specifications have been detailed on the new page as well, along with color options for each of the aforementioned models. Starting off with the Moto G6, it will be available in Deep Indigo, Black, and Blush, whereas the Moto G6 Play will only be offered in Deep Indigo. Meanwhile, the Moto E5 Play will launch in Black, Dark Lake, and Flash Gray, while the Moto E5 Plus is the only model to offer four color options – Black, Flash Gray, Mineral Blue, and Fine Gold. Specifications are already known since the new Moto G6 and E5 lineups are presently available in some countries including Brazil, but there are some key differences between the units: all four models rely on Android 8.0 Oreo and all feature rear-mounted fingerprint scanners, except for the Moto G6 Play which uses a side-mounted one. Save for the Moto E5 Play that sticks with a 16:9 panel, they boast elongated screens with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Regarding internal hardware, at least in the United States, the Moto G6 should adopt a Snapdragon 450 chipset from Qualcomm paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM, whereas the Moto G6 Play will launch with a Snapdragon 427 and 2GB or 3GB of RAM, as opposed to a Snapdragon 430 like in other regions. Meanwhile, the Moto E5 Play will be available with 2GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 425 or 427 chipset, and finally, the Moto E5 Plus has 3GB of RAM and should launch with a Snapdragon 425 silicon.
Although pricing details are not presently listed on the official U.S. pages detailing the Android handsets, the Moto E5 Play will be the most affordable unit with an expected launch price of $119. Next in line is the Moto E5 Plus expected to hit the shelves at $169, and finally, the Moto G6 Play and Moto G6 should become available at $199 and $249, respectively. As always, prices will also vary depending on the exact memory configurations consumers opt for.
