HMD Global recently had a major launch event at Mobile World Congress where quite a few Nokia-branded smartphones were made official, and the company will now be launching another smartphone called the Nokia X in China near the end of the month, according to a new leak. A digital poster of the phone was recently spotted in the Far Eastern country, showing a giant ‘X’ that possibly consists of two Nokia X units. Apart from the name, the only other detail the teaser reveals is the announcement date, which is April 27. HMD may eventually bring the device to other markets as well, with the firm already using China as its testbed on numerous occasions since early 2017.
Before Microsoft acquired Nokia, the company had launched a couple of Android-powered devices, including an entry-level phone named Nokia X. Since HMD is on a spree of reviving older Nokia phones, the Nokia X from the company’s older days could also be refreshed for 2018. The 2014 Nokia X featured entry-level specifications while the newly leaked Nokia X is expected to be a mid-range smartphone. The poster doesn’t provide any other details about the phone. Previous reports have suggested the device is to include 4GB or 6GB of RAM paired with either a Snapdragon or a MediaTek processor.
Currently, HMD Global is offering the Nokia 1 as its main entry-level Android smartphone launched as part of Google’s Android Go program. The Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 (2018), and the Nokia 8810 4G feature phone were also announced at the MWC event in February and are now being slowly rolled out to different markets around the world. The company launched all of the aforementioned devices as part of the Android One initiative with a commitment to provide regular OS and security updates to its customers. A new Nokia flagship for 2018 allegedly named the Nokia 9 is expected to join the company’s product family in the second half of the year. Its most premium version is said to be boasting the Snapdragon 845 SoC and 8GB of RAM along with 256GB of internal storage, according to a recent leak.
