OnePlus teased its 2018 flagship earlier this month with a video claiming the OnePlus 6 will deliver “the speed you need”. An extended version of that video teaser is now playing in India and was spotted by a local while visiting a movie theater. The 15-second advertisement played before the movie started and could be captured in a video to be later posted on his Twitter account. Besides dramatically talking about how swift the OnePlus 6 will be, the ad suggests the Android flagship to be Amazon Exclusive in India. Amazon.in has been OnePlus’ exclusive sales partner since the smartphone maker’s early days in the country and OnePlus 6 also being launched as an Amazon Exclusive isn’t surprising at all.
It is worth noting that the 128GB variant of the OnePlus 5T has been out of stock in India for a couple of weeks and Amazon has since been retailing only the 64GB variant. The OnePlus 5T is being slowly phased out from different markets world over, starting from North America in March. Launched last November, the handset wouldn’t be completing its usual life cycle of six months with OnePlus seemingly all set to launch its sequel. The OnePlus 6 is said to be out in the next few weeks, possibly on May 5, according to a leak. One of the major changes the device will come with is the addition of a display cut out, which was also confirmed by the company executives.
The OnePlus 6 will be a flagship smartphone packing top of the line specifications, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. It is reported to be available in multiple RAM and storage variants with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory. While still including two rear cameras, they will now be placed in the center in vertical alignment with a fingerprint scanner below them, a leaked photo suggested. The Alert Slider, iconic to OnePlus flagships, will also switch sides to now be placed on the right side of the OnePlus 6, above the power key, instead of the left side. Apart from this, the Android smartphone is also expected to sport a wood-like back, which will be a first for any OnePlus flagship.
