Sony has just launched the Xperia XZ2 in China, following the phone’s initial global launch which occurred back in February during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Interestingly enough, Sony did not launch the Xperia XZ2 Compact along with the Xperia XZ2, and the same can be said for the Xperia XZ2 Premium which was announced globally a couple of days ago. Having said that, China’s Xperia XZ2 variant is more powerful than the one that Sony introduced on a global scale, as it comes with more RAM, Chinese variant sports 6GB of RAM, while the global model offers ‘only’ 4GB of RAM.
Other than the RAM difference, we’re basically looking at the same smartphone here. The Sony Xperia XZ2 is made out of metal and glass, and it looks considerably different than its predecessor, as Sony decided to revamp its design completely. The Xperia XZ2 is still not bezel-less, but its bezels are not exactly thick either. The phone is fueled by one of the most powerful mobile processors out there, the Snapdragon 845, and in addition to 6GB of RAM, this handset comes with 64GB of native storage. The Xperia XZ2 utilizes on-screen buttons, while its fingerprint scanner sits on the back, where you will find a single camera. A 19-megapixel shooter is included on the back of this smartphone, while a 5-megapixel camera sits on the phone’s front side. A 3,180mAh battery is also included in this package, and you will be able to recharge it rather fast using Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the Xperia XZ2, while Sony’s custom UI sits on top of it, as per usual. The Xperia XZ2 sports a 5.7-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) TRILUMINOS display, while the IP65/68 rating for water and dust resistance is also included here. The phone weighs 198 grams, and it’s actually quite pricey. The phone is currently available for pre-order in the country, and it is priced at 5,999 Yuan ($954), which actually means it’s more affordable than in Europe, which is odd considering that a 4GB RAM model is available in Europe, and it costs €800 ($988).
