Xiaomi 'cereus' Appears On Geekbench With 3GB Of RAM

A new Xiaomi-branded handset has just surfaced on Geekbench, and this is almost certainly one of the company’s Redmi-branded handsets. If you take a look at the image down below, you will be able to see the listing itself, and as you can see, this phone’s codename is ‘cereus’. Geekbench reveals that the device will be fueled by MediaTek’s MT6765 64-bit octa-core SoC. This is a 12nm processor, and it is clocked at 2.0GHz, reveals Geekbench. The device will ship with 3GB of RAM as well, while it will include Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. On top of Google’s OS, you’ll get Xiaomi’s custom UI called ‘MIUI’, of course.

That being said, this smartphone managed to score 745 points in the single-core benchmark, while it hit 3,562 points in the multi-core benchmark on Geekbench. Now, Geekbench does not reveal what model of the device is this exactly, but it could be the Redmi 6A. Geekbench did not share any more info regarding this smartphone, but if it is the Redmi 6A, then you can expect this phone to resemble the Redmi 5. The phone will probably be made out of metal, and if its predecessor is anything to go by, it will not include a fingerprint scanner. The Redmi 5A shipped with a rear-facing loudspeaker, and Xiaomi could make a step forward with the Redmi 6A, and include that speaker on the bottom of the phone this time around. A 3.5mm headphone jack probably won’t be a part of the package, even though the Redmi 5A did sport one, but the company is looking to step away from the headphone jack altogether, as a number of its devices did not ship with a headphone jack both this and last year, but we’ll see.

Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 skin will come pre-installed on the device, quite probably MIUI 9.5, while the phone is expected to sport a smaller display than the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro. As far as resolution is concerned, the Redmi 6A will probably ship with either an HD or an HD+ panel, while you will be able to expand this phone’s storage. A single camera will be included on the back of the device and the device will sport two SIM card slots.
