Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Made $4 Million In 10 Days: Data

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery made approximately $4 million in in-app revenue over the course of the last ten days since its April 25 release, app analytics company Apptopia estimates. The latest gaming experience based on the famous wizarding saga authored by J.K. Rowling amassed some nine million downloads on a global level so far, as per the same source. The majority of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery installs came from the Google Play Store, albeit iOS users are the demographic that accounts for most of the in-app sales generated by the Jam City-developed title. “This is pretty typical of popular mobile games,” an Apptopia spokesperson said in a statement to AndroidHeadlines.

Since its late April release, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery was the number one overall ranked app on the Google Play Store in 32 countries, though it already lost that title in certain markets. As expected, the game was also by far the most popular Jam City-made app by downloads in the last 30 days even though it has only been globally available for a third of the observed period, having still managed to easily surpass the likes of Family Guy: Another Freakin’ Mobile Game, Panda Pop, Paint Monsters, Cookie Jam, and Snoopy Pop.

Created in collaboration with Warner Bros., Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a streamlined MMORPG suitable for playing in short bursts, with the base game being free to download and play, albeit with a significant amount of cosmetics hidden behind microtransactions. Reviewers had a mixed response to the title, with many criticizing its business model and the fact that it doesn’t do more with the famous Harry Potter license, though mobile gamers appear to be pleased with what Jam City delivered; as of Saturday noon EST, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has a 4.4-star average rating on the Google Play Store, with most user reviews being extremely positive. Jam City previously suggested it will support its latest Android and iOS title for years to come, with new content being expected to roll out on a regular basis.
