Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus launched a new trade-in program in Europe ahead of next week’s announcement of its latest Android flagship – the OnePlus 6. The company presently isn’t offering trade-in deals in any other part of the world but European consumers interested in upgrading to the OnePlus 6 this spring will be able to save up to €280 ($330) by providing the firm with their old device. According to recent rumors, those savings may hence slash the price of the OnePlus 6 in half, depending on the model, as the variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space is expected to retail at approximately €500 in Europe.
Anyone interested in taking advantage of the program right away will have to send in their old smartphone, with OnePlus promising to provide them with a discount voucher within two weeks that they’ll be able to use toward the purchase of the OnePlus 6 on the manufacturer’s website. In case you don’t have a spare phone at hand, i.e. aren’t able to send in your old one and still have something to use as a daily driver until your voucher arrives, the only other option is to wait for the OnePlus 6 to be released, purchase it at full price, then send in your old device when it arrives. Instead of a voucher, doing so will see you receive a cashback within two weeks.
Vouchers cannot be combined with one another or student discounts and also aren’t eligible to be redeemed at pop-up stores that the phone maker will be opening across the world immediately following the announcement of the OnePlus 6. The upcoming Android flagship will be unveiled next Wednesday, May 16, featuring a 19:9 display with a notch, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chip, and up to 8GB of RAM, as well as a maximum of 256GB of storage space, dual-camera setup, and support for navigation gestures. The Shenzhen-based company is expected to start retailing the OnePlus 6 globally within a week of its official launch.
