Four real-life images of the Burgundy Red variants of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus appeared online on Wednesday, having been shared by one industry insider from China after Samsung already announced the new devices in the Far Eastern country. While the South Korean original equipment manufacturer already opened pre-orders for the two handsets in China, no firm release date has yet been attached to them, with the duo only being expected to hit the store shelves in the coming weeks. The Galaxy S9 series is already offered in Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Lilac Purple, and Titanium Gray color options, though Samsung isn’t retailing all variants globally.
It’s presently unclear whether the Burgundy Red models are meant to be released in more markets going forward, though that’s what happened with the same-colored variants of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus several months back. While Burgundy Red was a late addition to the Galaxy S8 family, having debuted more than half a year after the commercial release of the 2017 handsets, it proved to be a popular choice among consumers across the world, with Samsung now apparently making it a staple color option for its high-end products.
Earlier this week, the same source shared what’s alleged to be the first render of the Galaxy Note 9, suggesting Samsung won’t be departing from the overall look of the Galaxy Note 8 and will instead focus on performance upgrades and new features, though the upcoming Android flagship is still rumored to be the company’s first offering with an under-display fingerprint reader. It’s presently unclear whether Samsung is considering a Burgundy Red variant of the Galaxy Note 9 but recent reports suggested at least one new color option will be part of the upcoming lineup, with its alleged name being “Teddy Brown.” The Burgundy Red color of the Galaxy S9 Plus is only offered with the 128GB storage model of the handset, whereas both the 64GB and 128GB versions of the smaller Galaxy S9 can be purchased with that vivid finish.
