T-Mobile is gearing up for bringing a new LG-branded smartphone onto its network as official support pages for a device called the LG K30 are now up and running on the carrier’s website ahead of what seems to be an imminent launch. The smartphone’s arrival at T-Mobile is not entirely surprising as reports from March suggested that the network operator will eventually start offering the LG K30 along with the Aristo 2 Plus in its stores. The latter has yet to make an appearance at T-Mobile so the K30 has taken the lead and its release appears to be just around the corner. Exact pricing and availability details remain unknown, but the official support pages describe its hardware configuration in detail.
The LG K30 destined to be released by T-Mobile seems to fit in the low mid-range segment as it features a 5.3-inch TFT display with an HD resolution and a conventional 16:9 image format. Additionally, the smartphone is powered by an unspecified Qualcomm-made processor featuring four CPU cores clocked at up to 1.4GHz, which could very well be a part of the Snapdragon 400 series. Whatever the case, the CPU is coupled with 2GB of RAM and the device has 32GB of on-board memory while supporting up to 2TB of external storage via its microSD card slot. The back panel accommodates a 13-megapixel camera paired with an LED flash, a circular fingerprint sensor, and a loudspeaker near the bottom, while the front panel remains fairly clean and sports only a 5-megapixel camera next to the phone’s earpiece. Other technical details worth mentioning include a USB Type-C connector, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, as well as NFC and VoLTE capabilities. The smartphone runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and packs a 2,880mAh battery rated for up to 13 hours of active usage on a single charge.
With T-Mobile’s support pages for the LG K30 going live, it’s only a matter of time before the smartphone reaches the carrier’s virtual shelves along with concrete availability and pricing details. The handset doesn’t seem to push any technological boundaries, which is perfectly acceptable for such a value-oriented offering, especially one that should be priced at around $150.
