The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia is now less than a month away and Vivo, the Chinese smartphone giant and the official smartphone sponsor of the event, just announced the new Vivo V9 Blue, a limited-edition smartphone meant to commemorate the tournament. Vivo also started a campaign ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup called ‘My Time, My FIFA World Cup’ and two activities for its fans – Vivo Super Fan Photographers and Vivo Super Time. Under the first happening, the company will be recruiting football fans, consumers and special guests who are passionate about photography to capture moments at the 2018 & 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Vivo V9 Blue launch and its promotional activities indicate that the company is pushing the camera-centric features of the phone even more now, with its offering boasting a dual-camera setup on the back, utilizing a 16-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel one, with LED flash, whereas its top bezel accommodates a 24-megapixel camera capable of FHD video recording. Apart from that, the Vivo V9 Blue sports a 6.3-inch fullHD+ FullView display (1,080 x 2,280) with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which can be expanded by up to 256GB using a microSD card. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and packs a 3,260 mah non-removable battery. The whole device is themed after the 2018 FIFA World Cup and is heavily customizable.
As part of the Vivo Super Time event, there will be a series of unique music-themed activities throughout the tournament that will also include the Vivo Super DJ show at all 64 matches. For the FIFA World Cup final match scheduled on July 15, the OEM will create a special Vivo Super Time moment during the intro song performance. The Chinese smartphone giant has started sponsoring major sports events in recent times and the company signed a six-year sponsorship agreement with FIFA last May, pledging to sponsor the 2018 & 2022 FIFA World Cup tournaments, as well as the FIFA Confederations Cup. Earlier this month, the firm already the Vivo X21 FIFA World Cup Edition.
