Xiaomi Redmi S2 Listed On AliExpress Prior To Launch

A global version of the yet-unannounced Xiaomi Redmi S2 handset has just surfaced on AliExpress, and that listing shares a number of Redmi S2 renders, the phone’s price tag, and its specifications. Before we get into it, it’s worth saying that the phone will become official on May 10, and it will be announced in China. The Redmi S2 will be a budget smartphone, and it will almost certainly hit a number of additional markets following its launch in China, as the phone was spotted in one of Xiaomi’s European Mi Stores.

Now, if you take a look at the listing on AliExpress, you will notice Gray, Gold, and Rose Gold color options are listed there, while those renders do seem official, as they show the same phone as an official render Xiaomi published earlier today. The device will be made out of metal, and it will sport a vertically-aligned dual camera setup on the back. Its fingerprint scanner will also be placed on the back, and the same goes for the company’s branding. All the physical keys will be included on the right, while the phone’s SIM card tray will be accessible on the left. The device’s bezels will not be that thick on the device, and the phone will be quite affordable. The device is priced at $159.99 on AliExpress, and interestingly enough, the phone is already available for purchase on the site.

Now, as per AliExpress’ listing, the phone will sport a 5.99-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. The phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core processor, while a 3,080mAh battery will be included on the inside. AliExpress lists a 12-megapixel camera for the device’s main camera, while a 5-megapixel camera is included on the back as well, says the source. A 16-megapixel camera is included on the device’s front side, says the source, while the device does include two SIM card slots. If AliExpress is to be believed, the phone measures 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1mm, while its weight was not mentioned by the source.
