A new Xiaomi-branded smartphone has just surfaced on Geekbench, the Xiaomi “StRaKz”. This is just one of many Xiaomi-branded handsets that have appeared on Geekbench lately, as the Xiaomi “cactus”, “valentino”, and “cereus” also surfaced in the last month or so. That being said, this seems to be yet another mid-range offering by the company, and it could be one of the company’s Redmi-branded smartphones.
According to Geekbench, the Xiaomi StRaKz will be fueled by the Qualcomm MSM8953 processor, which essentially means that we’re looking at the Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core SoC here. In addition to that, the phone will include 4GB of RAM, and it will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. That is all the spec info that Geekbench shared, though we also know that the device managed to score 902 points in the single-core benchmark, and 1,536 points in the multi-core benchmark test. Now, the Snapdragon 625 already fuels quite a few Xiaomi-branded smartphones, including the Redmi S2, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 4, Mi Max 2, Mi 5X, and so on. Based on this phone’s codename, “StRaKz”, it’s basically impossible to predict what this phone’s final name will be, as Xiaomi’s codenames are usually quite mysterious. Based on the phone’s specs, though, we’re presuming that this will be a Redmi-branded smartphone, though according to a recent leak, Xiaomi is planning to introduce a ton of new smartphones, so, who knows.
The company’s budget devices have been selling extremely well in some markets, like India for example, where Xiaomi managed to overthrow Samsung completely, and is now a sole leader in that market. The company’s Redmi-branded phones are best-selling in India, so it’s not exactly surprising that Xiaomi keeps on releasing mostly mid-range phones, even though it did release the Mi MIX 2S flagship, and another flagship device, the Mi 7 (or Mi 8 according to latest rumors) is expected to launch in the near future. All in all, the Xiaomi StRaKz is expected to arrive soon as well, so stay tuned for that, we’ll report back as soon as Xiaomi releases some official info.
