A photograph depicting what’s said to be the prototype of the Motorola One Power leaked online earlier today, having emerged several days after AndroidHeadlines exclusively reported about the existence of the company’s Android One offering. The real-life image that can be seen above is largely in line with its first known render, though the newly sighted prototype doesn’t feature “Motorola” branding on its bottom bezel. The handset is otherwise identical to its original depiction, sporting a 19:9 display panel with a relatively wide display notch and a single front-facing camera.
As previously reported by AndroidHeadlines, the Motorola One Power will have a dual-camera setup on its back panel, with the system featuring two vertically arranged sensors sandwiching a flash unit. Motorola’s “batwing” logo is also present on the rear side of the handset, presumably doubling as a fingerprint reader. The upcoming mobile offering is also set to be the company’s first product to lack “Moto” branding in a while, though it’s presently unclear whether that change is relevant to the fact that it’s meant to launch as part of Google’s Android One program or is possibly indicative of a larger product naming shift at the Lenovo-owned original equipment manufacturer. Motorola already delivered an Android One handset last year while sticking with its abridged branding, having released it in the form of the Moto X4 which is still considered to be one of the best mid-rangers running stock Android on the market.
It’s presently unclear when the Motorola One Power is meant to hit the market, though the OEM is presumably targeting a 2018 release seeing how it already has a prototype of the device and has apparently authored some high-resolution renders, suggesting it already finalized the phone’s design, as indicated by the leaks outlined above. Motorola is presently enjoying significant success in Latin America but has struggled to establish its offerings in other parts of the world since Google sold it to Lenovo in 2014.
