AT&T’s latest streaming solution, WatchTV, has gone live and is now available to those who had been waiting to sign up. This is a service which was first officially announced earlier in the month although at the time it was unclear when the service would be switched on. That seems to have happened within the last 24 hours, with consumers now able to sign up and immediately start watching.
The big selling point with WatchTV is the price as AT&T’s latest offering costs only $15 per month. For that price the product is more limited compared to other similar options although AT&T does state that more than 30 channels are included, with more set to be added in due course. It’s not just the main price that makes this such an affordable option for gaining access to live TV content, but the setup in general. As there are no additional hardware elements needed. This is designed to be a streaming service and therefore is totally dependent on an internet connection and accessible through a number of typical points, including the official website and a new dedicated Android app – now available to download from the Google Play Store.
Likewise, there are no prerequisites with adding the service. For example, you do not need to be an AT&T phone or internet customer, or someone who has already signed up to one of the company’s other TV-based solutions. It simply is a $15 per month option for those looking for one. However, those who are already AT&T customers will find it’s beneficial to combining the services, as consistent with the previous announcement, customers who are already signed up with either of the company’s new Unlimited & More or Unlimited & More Premium plans, gain WatchTV for free. Meaning those companies can literally access WatchTV today, through their existing account. Those existing customers, as well as non-AT&T customers, can start taking advantage of the service by downloading the Android app or heading over to the official WatchTV website. Those not eligible to free access to the service can take advantage of a free seven-day trial to find out what WatchTV offers before paying for it.
