The camera found on the back of the Galaxy Note 9 will outperform the imaging capabilities of the Galaxy S9 Plus, according to a new rumor which started circulating the industry earlier this week. After Bloomberg reported Samsung is planning to revamp the camera setup of the Galaxy Note 9 this Friday, one industry insider from China with a positive track record regarding leaks related to the company’s mobile products reiterated that statement this Sunday, albeit without elaborating on the matter.
Last summer, the Galaxy Note 8 marked the start of Samsung’s Android flagships with two rear cameras, with a similar setup being embraced by the Galaxy S9 Plus earlier this year, ennobled with the addition of a variable-aperture lens. The Galaxy S9 lineup has been specifically advertised as “the camera reimagined” by Samsung, though the Seoul-based original equipment manufacturer is unlikely to use the same slogan for promoting its upcoming Android phablet as doing so would break with the firm’s marketing tradition which generally doesn’t reuse ideas even while promoting relatively iterative upgrades such as the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus. The Galaxy Note 9 is also expected to be largely similar to its predecessor, at least from the outside. Samsung is said to be committing more resources to the software experience of the device and its processing capabilities, with the Galaxy Note 9 being expected to debut with a significantly more responsive version of Bixby, as well as a new iteration of the S Pen stylus.
The device will reportedly be launching on August 9, less than a year after the previous addition to the flagship family debuted at IFA 2017. A new “Teddy Brown” color is said to be in the works as well, with Samsung presumably seeking to start retailing the Galaxy Note 9 by early September. The variable-aperture lens from the Galaxy S9 Plus should make a return on the upcoming phablet, together with AR Emoji, as per previous rumors.
