Lenovo's New Mid-Ranger Leaks With SD636 SoC & Display Notch

An image of the front panel of an upcoming smartphone from the Chinese device manufacturer Lenovo has been leaked. This handset is identified as the Lenovo L78011, and it sports a display with rounded corners and an aspect ratio that is longer than the more traditional 16:9. A notch is located above the handset’s display and it will likely contain the smartphone’s front-facing selfie shooter and the earpiece.

The leaked image also reveals a number of important details regarding the specifications of the upcoming smartphone. According to the leak, the Snapdragon 636 chipset from the semiconductor firm Qualcomm will power the Lenovo L78011. This SoC is comprised of an octa-core Kryo 260 64-bit CPU running at a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz and the Adreno 509 GPU. The leak also claims that the handset will include 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage, although only 38.45GB of the internal storage will be available to the user. In addition, it is not yet clear if the Lenovo L78011 will support the expansion of the flash storage using a microSD card. Software-wise, the smartphone will reportedly ship with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed, which means that the device will likely support Google’s Project Treble. Project Treble was developed by the search giant to make it easier for device makers to develop and distribute operating system upgrades and security patches to their mobile products. Moreover, users of the device will be able to take advantage of features like the Picture-in-Picture mode, the notification channels feature, the autofill functionality, and the smart text selection. In addition, Lenovo’s proprietary skin, dubbed as the ZUI, will reportedly run on top of Google’s operating system.

There is no clear information yet regarding the pricing and availability of the Lenovo L78011, although more information about the handset will likely become available soon. However, this device is not the only smartphone that Lenovo will launch in the near future. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is also expected to release its latest flagship handset offering, the Lenovo Z5, in an event scheduled on June 5th. This upcoming flagship device will reportedly have 4TB of internal storage and a screen-to-body ratio of around 95-percent.
