OnePlus launched a limited-edition OnePlus 6 in a Silk White avatar on Tuesday, June 5, and it proved to be in high demand. The special model vanished off virtual store shelves in less than 24 hours, in both the United States and Europe. The same performance applies to the OnePlus Bullets Wireless earphones, which similarly sold out within the same time frame as the Silk White OnePlus 6. Unlike the other available color options, the Silk White OnePlus 6 came with a pearly white matte coating rather than the glossy all-glass build of the Mirror Black model, or the matte black design of the Midnight Black OnePlus 6. Moreover, the Silk White special edition also came with subtle rose gold accents embellishing the logo, the metal frame, and the fingerprint scanner on the back of the device.
The bezels are still black, just like on regular OnePlus 6 models, and the specifications remain unchanged, albeit the Silk White version was available in a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage space, priced at €569/ $579/ £519. As a reminder, the OnePlus 6, regardless of color option or special edition, features a 6.28-inch display with a resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio, a Snapdragon 845 processor, a dual rear-camera setup made up of a 20-megapixel sensor and a 16-megapixel one, a 16-megapixel front camera, and a 3,300 mAh battery. In terms of software, the smartphone runs OnePlus’ own Oxygen OS based on Google’s Android 8.1 Oreo, delivering a smooth experience.
Silk White OnePlus 6 listings in both Europe and the United States show that the available stock has been completely depleted, indicating that OnePlus might have underestimated the demand for this limited edition. Nevertheless, those who didn’t manage to get their hands on one this time around will get another chance soon enough, as OnePlus plans to replenish stock on June 12. The OnePlus Bullets Wireless earphones, meanwhile, sold out even faster than the smartphone, and should come back in stock soon enough as well. When asked on Twitter how long did it take for the Bullets Wireless earphones to go out of stock, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei said that it only took three minutes.
