The Huawei TalkBand B5 hybrid wearable got listed on Vmall, Huawei’s official online store in China, a week ago, and the company has just reached out and officially introduced the device. We had pretty much all the necessary info a week ago, but Huawei now filled in the gaps with its official press release. The TalkBand B5 is the fourth-generation TalkBand product, and a direct successor to the TalkBand B3 which was introduced back in 2016.
The Huawei TalkBand B5 is a 2-in-1 hybrid device, just like the TalkBand B3 was, as it functions as a Bluetooth headset and a health tracker. As you can see in the provided images, a Bluetooth headset is actually placed inside of the band and body of this device, and it comes with a display, so you can easily access it when needed, as it’s always on your wrist. The Huawei TalkBand B5 sports a 1.13-inch (300 x 160) AMOLED display with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it. That display is touch-sensitive, and the TalkBand B5 utilizes Bluetooth 4.2 in order to connect to your smartphone. Your phone will need to run Android 4.4+ or iOS 9.0+ in order to connect to the TalkBand B5, while the device is also IP57-certified for water and dust resistance. The TalkBand B5 also offers a 24-hour heart rate monitoring (TruSeen), has sports goal setting, can track your walking, running, cycling, and other types of exercise. The TalkBand B5 also serves as a smart alarm clock, can send notifications to your wrist, and comes with Huawei’s TruRelax technology. Sleep tracking is also available through Huawei’s Trusleep tech, which was certified by the CDB center at Harvard Medical School. Phone finder is also integrated into this device, while you can also use the TalkBand B5 as a remote shutter for your smartphone camera.
The Huawei TalkBand B5 was introduced in both Sports and Business editions in China, and the main difference is the fact that the Business edition comes with a metal strap. Huawei notes that the device will go on sale in China starting on July 20, while Huawei also confirmed that it will be available in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and a number of other markets starting next month. The Huawei TalkBand B5 with silicone band costs 999 Yuan ($149) in China, a version with a leather band is priced at 1,199 ($178), while the Business edition with a metal strap costs 1,499 Yuan ($223).
