The LG G7 ThinQ is LG’s latest flagship handset, and the durability test for that phone just surfaced on JerryRigEverything YouTube channel. The HTC U12 Plus went through Jerry’s durability testing quite recently, and now it’s time for LG’s flagship offering. The LG G7 ThinQ, as many of you know, was introduced back in May, and the device is made out of metal and glass, like many other smartphones out there.
The source decided to test this phone’s display first, just to see how scratch-resistant it is. The LG G7 ThinQ scratches at a level 6 (using a level 6 pick), while deeper scratches are visible at a level 7, which is in line with most flagship smartphones out there, as Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection is included on top of this phone’s display. The phone’s sensors and its front-facing camera are all covered by the same sheet of glass as the display, while the earpiece is made out of metal. The phone’s frame is made out of metal, and the same goes for the G7 ThinQ’s physical keys. The phone’s rear-facing branding is covered by glass, and LG used Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the back of this phone as well, same as on the front. The phone’s fingerprint scanner can be scratched with a razor blade, though it will work even if it’s severely scratched, as you can see in the provided video down below.
After being exposed to the flame for 7 seconds, pixels on the LG G7 ThinQ’s IPS LCD display shut down, but they recovered soon after. The LG G7 ThinQ survived the bend test as well, Jerry tried to bend it from both front and back, as is the case with any phone he tests, though the LG G7 ThinQ did not budge, it continued working afterward, and everything remained in place.
