Motorola Announces Moto E5 Play Android Go Edition

Motorola had introduced the Moto E5 Play back in April, along with the Moto E5 and E5 Plus, and now the company revealed an Android Go version of the Moto E5 Play. Interestingly enough, the Moto E5 Play Android Go variant is not the same as the Moto E5 Play as far as specs go, there are some differences, so the phone’s software is not the only differentiating factor here, in case you were wondering.

As far as the design is concerned, the two phones are identical, the Moto E5 Play Android Go edition sports a single camera on the back, where you’ll find the company’s logo as well, which doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The device comes with rather thick bezels on the front, and Motorola branding is located below the phone’s display. The back side of this phone is curved, and the device is made out of polycarbonate. All the physical buttons are included on the right-hand side of this phone, and the device’s display sports slightly rounded corners. Unlike the regular Moto E5 Play, this Android Go edition of the phone sports a 5.34-inch FWVGA+ (960 x 480) display. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 425 64-bit quad-core SoC, same as the regular Moto E5 Play, and it comes with 1GB of RAM on the inside. A 2,100mAh battery is included in this version of the Moto E5 Play, and that battery is slightly larger than the one in the regular Moto E5 Play.

The Moto E5 Play Android Go edition comes with 16GB of expandable storage, while it includes two SIM card slots as well. The Moto E5 Play Android Go edition also sports p2i water-repellent coating, and an 8-megapixel camera on the back. A 5-megapixel front-facing camera is also included in the package, while a 3.5mm headphone jack is a part of the package. The device comes with a front-ported speaker, dual microphones, and it supports 4G LTE connectivity. Bluetooth 4.2 is included here as well, while Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) comes pre-installed on this smartphone. The Moto E5 Play Android Go edition measures 147.88 x 71.2 x 9.19mm, while it weighs 145 grams. The device comes in Black, Dark Lake, and Flash Gray color variants, while it is priced at €109 ($127) in Europe, and £99.95 ($132) in the UK. The device will go on sale in Europe, the UK, and Latin America this month.
