Vivo NEX S durability test surfaced on the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel a couple of days ago, and now that very same channel shared a partial teardown of Vivo’s all-new flagship. This is not a full teardown of the phone, but it does show off the phone’s ‘elevating’ camera mechanism, and while he’s at it, Jerry also decided to remove that colored pattern from the glass back panel, so that it’s see-through.
If you’re planning to do the same with the Vivo NEX S, you’ll need to heat up the back side of the phone pretty well, so that you can use a suction cup and remove it. Keep in mind that the adhesive is holding everything together, so you’ll also need a metal pry tool in order to cut through the adhesive. If you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, it may be best to avoid doing any of this, of course. Once you remove the back side, you won’t be able to see the camera mechanism, it’s hidden behind a bit of plastic which you’ll need to remove. At this point, you’ll need to remove a number of screws before you can see the phone’s elevating camera. It seems to be a rather sturdy and interesting mechanism that Vivo included here. Now, you’ll notice that Jerry also cut off part of that plastic in order for the camera mechanism to be visible on the back.

As far as the phone itself is concerned, the device was introduced last month, and it’s a flagship device, that’s for sure. The Vivo NEX S features 6.59-inch fullHD+ (2316 x 1080) Super AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of non-expandable storage. 12 and 5-megapixel cameras are included on the back of this phone, while an 8-megapixel camera is used on the front. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor fuels the device, while Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed with Vivo’s Funtouch 4 skin.
