Gboard for Android has joined the likes of Facebook, Instagram, (Facebook) Messenger… and several other applications, as Google’s keyboard app has just crossed that magic 1 million installs number on the Play Store. Do keep in mind, however, that Google Play Store counts both installs and pre-installed copies as installs, so this includes devices on which Gboard comes pre-installed, and there are a ton of them out there. Not to say that this app was not installed manually a ton of times, because it was.
Gboard is regarded to be one of the best keyboard applications for Android, if not the best one. This app used to be called ‘Google Keyboard’ back in the day, but Google decided to rebrand for one reason or the other. Gboard has been getting updates constantly since its release, and the latest one brought text-only custom GIFs to the table. Next step for Gboard seems to be the addition of a clipboard manager, at least according to the latest APK teardown that surfaced online. In addition to that, it seems like Chrome OS shortcuts will be added as well, though we’re still not sure when will that update arrive, as Google has started including code for such features in the app, but did not release any additional info.
Google’s keyboard, for those of you who did not know, allows you to utilize Google Search function directly from the app, while Glide Typing is also available, and has been for a long time now. If you want, you can use your finger in order to write something manually, while GIFs are supported by this keyboard as well, as are emojis. Google Translate comes integrated with Gboard as well, while Multilingual typing is also available. Gboard comes with a ton of options and features, so if you still don’t have it installed, and would like to give it a try, a download link is included down below.
