LG Intros First TONE-Branded Devices With Google Assistant

LG Electronics has recently announced two new wireless wearable audio products, the LG TONE Platinum SE and the TONE Ultra SE. These two devices are among the audio products that the South Korean tech firm will showcase during the IFA 2018. One of the key features of the TONE Platinum SE earbuds is its out-of-the-box support for the Google Assistant. Even though this is not the first time that LG launched an audio product with Google Assistant support, the company emphasized that this wearable is the first TONE device that will ship with Google’s virtual assistant out-of-the-box. The Google Assistant integration will allow users to quickly activate the virtual assistant by pressing a hardware button, rather than having to speak the trigger phrase “OK Google”. In addition, the earphone can also be used to communicate with another individual in a foreign language with the help of Google Translate. LG also highlighted the hybrid unit design of the TONE Platinum SE, which is comprised of a balanced armature and the dynamic driver. According to the manufacturer, the balanced armature will provide high-frequency sound while the dynamic driver will generate bass for the wearable. The TONE Platinum SE earphones will be available in three color options, namely black, blue, and gold.

Meanwhile, another audio product that LG Electronics has recently announced is the TONE Ultra SE. Aside from including earbuds, this device also contains an external mono speaker, which is useful when having to answer calls or listen to music without the need to block ambient audio from the surroundings. Both the TONE Ultra SE and the Tone Platinum SE include dual MEMS microphones, which LG claims should result in improved call quality, and they will also support the Tone & Talk application, which will allow the user to adjust the settings of the audio devices as well as read messages from a number of supported chat and email applications.

LG will showcase its latest audio products in its IFA Booth from August 31 to September 5. The manufacturer also mentioned that the details regarding the pricing and availability of the devices will be revealed once it launches its wearables in specific local markets.
