YouTube Stories Launches For Select Channels

YouTube is now rolling out a new feature, which appears to only be available for select channels at this point, which is YouTube Stories. A feature that has been coming to virtually every major social media platform since Facebook decided to copy it from Snapchat last year. YouTube Stories is a feature that allows creators to share things directly to their feed and they will disappear after 24 hours. This is a good way for creators to be able to share behind-the-scenes footage to their viewers, without having to edit and upload a longer video.

The format of YouTube Stories is very similar to what Facebook and Instagram have. And it even includes them at the top of the app. On channels that have been given Stories, you’ll see a new tab available, where you can see their stories. So if you do happen to find a new channel that you are subscribing to, you are able to look over and see what their Stories are and see more about that actual channel. YouTube also uses a red ring around the channel’s logo if they currently have a Story on the video sharing platform for you to watch. This is again very similar to Instagram, which uses a orange and purple ring – which matches their colors.

YouTube Stories, may not be something that immediately takes off, but it is another way for creators to share things with their users. And since many creators spend most of their time on YouTube, it makes sense to share things in YouTube Stories. However, at this time, there doesn’t seem to be any word about monetizing YouTube stories. But since this is a Google company, you can rest assured that Google is looking into how to monetize Stories, and ads will likely be rolling out soon.
