OnePlus is working on a new pair of Bullets Wireless earbuds according to a series of documents recently discovered in the FCC database. The product certified by the regulatory agency on August 29 bears the model number BT32B and judging by a photo showcasing the FCC label location, the upcoming model will have a design similar to previous Bullets Wireless headphones, i.e., the earbuds will be connected by a collar wire. Seeing how the OnePlus 6T smartphone is expected to launch in October, it’s likely that the OEM will repeat history and unveil these new earbuds alongside the upcoming flagship phone as an optional accessory.
Hardware details are missing so only time will tell whether the new earbuds will fit in the same pricing bracket as the previous model, which launched earlier this year next to the OnePlus 6 smartphone for the price of $69. It’s worth noting that the previous model was more successful than the company’s co-founder Carl Pei expected, having been sold out in both Europe and the United States in just a few minutes from their market release. The Bullets Wireless earbuds aren’t really top-tier products with a truly-wireless design like the Samsung Gear IconX, but the price was compelling especially for fresh OnePlus 6 customers who may have wanted to pair their new smartphones with earbuds branded by the same OEM and featuring a similar color scheme. In any case, it’s likely that one of the reasons behind the success of the Bullets Wireless earbuds might have been the massive hype generated by the company during the official unveiling, and it remains to be seen whether OnePlus will follow the same strategy this year. As for when they’ll be announced, assuming that the accessory will be presented on stage alongside the upcoming flagship phone, there is a possibility that both products will be unveiled on October 17, at least according to a teaser image previously shared by the OEM.
Previous reports indicate that the OnePlus 6T might become the company’s first smartphone to adopt in-display fingerprint sensing technology, but could also retain the display notch introduced with the OnePlus 6 model in May. Another leak suggested that the flagship will be quite similar to the OPPO R17 Pro in terms of specifications and will feature a 6.4-inch display, the Snapdragon 845 chipset from Qualcomm, and 8GB of RAM.
