Following ZTE’s Axon 9 Pro announcement from IFA last week, Nubia has just announced its new flagship as well, the Nubia Z18. The Nubia Z18 has been announced in China, and it seems like leaks were spot on. This handset is made out of metal and glass, as expected, while it sports extremely thin bezels, and a really tiny, Essential PH-1-like notch at the top, which houses the phone’s front-facing camera and an earpiece.
The Nubia Z18 also has a rather thin ‘chin’ below the display, while the back side of this phone is curved. There are two cameras included on the back of the Nubia Z18, and those two cameras are horizontally-aligned. A fingerprint scanner is included on the back of the device as well, while the power / lock, volume up and volume down buttons are included on the right side of the phone. A SIM card tray is accessible from the left-hand side of the Nubia Z18, while a dedicated voice key is also included on that side of the phone. A Type-C USB port is placed on the bottom of the device, along with the phone’s loudspeaker.
The Nubia Z18 features a 5.99-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) InCell display with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it, while Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 is protecting this display. Speaking of the display, this phone has a 91.8-percent screen-to-body ratio, in case you were wondering. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor fuels the Nubia Z18, while the phone also sports 6GB / 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB / 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. There are two SIM card slots available on the inside of this phone, while a 3,450mAh battery is also included in the package, and it supports Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging. Two 16-megapixel cameras sit on the back of this phone (both sport an f/1.6 aperture lens), while a single 8-megapixel camera (f/2.0 aperture lens) is located on the front side of the phone. Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the device, while Nubia’s nubia UI 6.0 is installed on top of it.
The Nubia Z18 measures 148.58 x 72.54 x 8.55mm, while it weighs 172 grams. The device comes in Midnight Black and Nebula Red color variants, while its 6GB and 8GB RAM variants are priced at 2,799 Yuan ($409) and 3,299 Yuan ($482), respectively. The company has also announced a limited edition variant of the phone, and it’s officially called the Limited Edition Van Gogh Starlight Collector’s Edition, this special edition handset is priced at 3,599 Yuan ($526). The phone will go on sale in China starting on September 11, and it remains to be seen if it will become available in markets outside of Nubia’s homeland.
