Facebook Intros AI Features For Customers On Marketplace

Facebook is introducing new artificial intelligence features into the Facebook Marketplace that aims to help both buyers and sellers. Among the new features that the social media giant is introducing into the Marketplace is the auto-categorization of products and price suggestions. Facebook’s AI models automatically identify the category of a product using the images and descriptions provided by the seller. The model used by the social media giant will work even if only very short descriptions of the products are available. It will also use the information provided by the user to determine the appropriate price of an item based on the current market prices for similar products. These features should reduce the work that sellers have to do before they could sell their products.

Facebook is also using artificial intelligence to help buyers find what they need or want easier. A new feature lets users take photographs of products that they want and the social media giant’s AI models should recommend listings for similar products in their vicinity. Aside from helping buyers and sellers, Facebook also takes advantage of AI to automatically determine product listings, descriptions, or images that violate its policies, and the company also instituted a new reporting system that enables customers to report inappropriate listings or suspicious behavior by both sellers and buyers.

Aside from AI-powered features, Facebook also added a new rating system that aims to promote good behavior on buyers and sellers alike. Business owners and customers can rate each other and they can also leave comments on areas of improvement like response time, friendliness, and reliability. Furthermore, the social media giant also added new categories into the marketplace, including vehicles, home rentals, home services, and deals from online retailers. Facebook is continuously introducing new features that make it easier to conduct business on its social media platform. A functionality introduced in August allows customers to book reservations or appointments on Pages, a feature commonly used by local entrepreneurs. Furthermore, Facebook Messenger’s virtual assistant, M, can also translate Spanish messages into English while its Brand Collabs Manager promotes collaboration between businesses and content creators.
