LG V40 ThinQ Available To Pre-Order From AT&T Starting October 12

In short: AT&T has now confirmed it will be stocking the new LG V40 ThinQ smartphone. Those looking to buy through AT&T will initially be able to pre-order starting from October 12 with the carrier confirming the new LG device will go on general sale online and in store starting from October 19. As for pricing, the LG V40 ThinQ will be available through AT&T Next for $31.67 per month on a 30-month basis – which equates to $950 in total

Background: LG has already released a number of smartphones in 2018 and the LG V40 ThinQ marks the arrival of the latest. However, unlike previous 2018 smartphones the V40 ThinQ is a little different thanks to the inclusion of no less than five cameras. Two of which are positioned on the front of the device while the remaining three can all be found on the rear as part of a triple-camera setup. Swarm of cameras aside, the V40 ThinQ also makes a play for AI, and includes a larger-than-average display which measures in at 6.4-inches while adopting a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 3120 x 1440 resolution.

Impact: The V40 ThinQ is a high-profile smartphone and while it’s now confirmed as arriving on AT&T that was not necessarily a given, considering the carrier quite openly skipped on the LG G7 ThinQ when it was announced in favor of its exclusive LG V35 ThinQ smartphone. Therefore, the confirmation of availability will be welcomed by those looking for the newest LG smartphone on AT&T’s network. On the topic of price, $950 is a lot to pay for a smartphone irrespective of how many cameras it’s equipped with, although the price is in line with what the phone will be sold at through other carriers as well as unlocked through LG itself. Buyers will find some discrepancy here with some carriers opting for a very slightly cheaper launch price than AT&T’s. At present, AT&T has not confirmed whether there will be any additional launch deals offered. In the meantime, AT&T has released a new promotion video for the V40 ThinQ which can be viewed below and provides a good oversight of most of the phone’s key features.
