Rugged AGM A9 Unveiled With 5,400mAh Battery & 'Glove Mode'

AGM has just announced a new smartphone, the AGM A9. The AGM A9 is a rugged phone, which is both IP68 and MIL-STD-810G certified, which essentially means that it is not only water and dust resistant, but it can also take a hit without a problem, it’s quite a sturdy phone. The phone is shock-proof and ice-proof as well, says the company, while it can also be dropped for up to 1.5m without a problem. This smartphone does have some bezel above and below the display, but considering it’s a rugged phone, it’s actually not as thick as some of you may have expected. The device’s power / lock key is included on the right side (along with a dedicated camera key), while its volume up and volume down buttons lie on the left side. A fingerprint scanner sits on the back of the phone, while you’ll notice a single camera above it. The back side of this smartphone is flat, while AGM’s logo also sits here.

The AGM A9 comes with a rather large 5,400mAh battery on the inside, and you can quickly recharge that battery using Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. AGM also partnered up with JBL; as JBL’s quadruple speakers are included in this phone, and have been tuned by the company for this device. There are two microphones included here as well, and the company says that they offer really good recording quality. AGM also notes that this phone is perfect for colder places on earth, as it does not require you to take off your gloves in order to use it, as you can have gloves up to 1.5mm thick and still use the phone normally. Now, this phone is considered to be an entry-level device, mainly due to its processor, as this phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 450 64-bit octa-core SoC, which is Qualcomm’s 14nm processor.

The AGM A9 features a 5.99-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display, while it sports 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of storage. The device comes with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, while a 16-megapixel unit is included on the device’s front side. FM antenna is built into this smartphone as well, so you can use the device to listen to the radio without a problem. The phone is already listed on the company’s official website, but it is still not available to purchase. We do know its estimated price tag, though, its 3GB RAM model is expected to cost $299.99, while the 4GB RAM variant will set you back $339.99, if you opt to get it. AGM will give you a chance to win a free pair of JBL headphones which are worth $149, if you purchase this device as soon as it becomes available, and that is expected to happen really soon.
