Huawei Looking To Trump Apple, Sales To Cross 200 Million In 2018

It seems like Huawei will be able to cross that magic 200 million threshold, and we’re talking about sold smartphones within one year, of course. On its official Twitter account, Huawei thanked its consumers for help and support, and the company vowed to keep improving its products and including new technology into their products. In addition to that, Huawei also shared an image with a large “200,000,000” number, and on the image it says that the shipments are expected to exceed 200 million in 2018. In addition to that, the company also mentioned December 25 in that image, which is Christmas, for those of you who are out of the loop, which suggests that some sort of an announcement may occur on Christmas, confirming the company’s sales numbers for the year. Now, It is quite possible that Huawei already crossed that magic 200 million number and is only waiting to announce it on December 25, it’s actually quite probable, but it remains to be seen how many devices the company sold. Huawei may share the exact number, or it may simply say that they’ve crossed 200 million, in any case, the announcement will occur.

2017 vs 2018

So, let’s assume that Huawei crossed the 200 million threshold in 2018, but not by much. Well, that’s still a lot more than the company managed to sell in 2017, as Huawei sold 153 million smartphones last year, even though the company’s revenue growth slowed down last year. That has been a considerable milestone for the company, as it basically blew its previous record out of the water, and it seems like the same will happen this year, as the company has sold approximately 50 million more smartphones than last year. So, what makes Huawei’s smartphones so appealing to consumers? Well, if you think about it, Huawei’s phones are usually more affordable than most of what the competition has to offer, at least when compared to its main competitors, Samsung and Apple. Huawei is not exactly playing the affordable card any longer, like Xiaomi, for example, but its phones are still more affordable than what Samsung and Apple have to offer, and that goes for low-end, mid-range, and high-end smartphones, actually.

Can Huawei Beat Apple In 2019?

Apple and Huawei are currently second and third smartphone manufacturer in the world, and the two companies have been trading places throughout 2018. Huawei kept the second place for a while, then Apple took it, and so on. Well, Huawei has a really good chance to turn things into its favor in 2019, and to push Apple to the third place for a longer period of time. Apple is currently the second smartphone manufacturer in the market, it seems, but that may change in the near future, especially once Huawei’s Mate 20 sales kick in, and the Huawei P30 flagship lineup may help as well, as it is scheduled to arrive in Q1 next year. The company’s Nova 4 smartphone could also turn things into Huawei’s favor in early 2019, while Apple is not expected to announce new smartphones until Q3 2019. So, if we had to guess, Huawei will probably claim the second place in early 2019 once again, and it will not let it go until Q3 or Q4 2019, when Apple may have a chance to reclaim it, but there’s a good chance that it will not. Huawei has been growing at an incredible pace in the last couple of years, and it has spread its reach all around the world, and it’s still growing. Some reports actually suggested that the company will be aiming to sell 250 million smartphones in 2019, and if that happens, Huawei will almost certainly retain the second place all the way until the end of 2019. Now, if you’re presuming that Samsung is the first-placed company, then you’re right, as that Korea-based tech giant is still unreachable for both Huawei and Apple, but Samsung has been failing in some crucial markets, its sales are dropping fast in China (world’s largest smartphone market), while Xiaomi managed to push Samsung away from the first spot in India (world’s second-largest smartphone market). Huawei did say earlier this year that its goal is to dethrone Samsung in a couple of years, so it will be interesting to see whether the company can do it. If it manages to keep its current momentum going, chances are that will happen at some point.
