The Galaxy M20 is Samsung’s upcoming mid-ranger, as most of you know by now, and the phone’s very first real-life image has just surfaced. This leak comes from 91mobiles, the same source that shared the phone’s front and back panels a while back. In any case, as you can see in an image provided above, the Galaxy M20 will sport Samsung’s new Infinity-V display, which is basically Samsung’s name for a display which sports a waterdrop notch at the top. In the provided image, you can see that notch, and you will notice that the phone’s front-facing camera is built into it. Above the notch itself lies an earpiece, which is essentially built into the phone’s frame. The source also notes that the phone’s bottom bezel is thinner than the one on the Galaxy Note9 as the source managed to get their hands on the device, it seems. Now, what’s interesting, is the fact that an LED notification light is actually available here as well, it surrounds the phone’s front-facing camera, so it’s more of an LED strip than your regular LED light. That LED strip will light up every time you unlock your device, and it is expected to light up for notifications as well, just like a regular LED light would. Samsung will hopefully give users some control over this, more control than simply flipping the switch, as it would be nice to be able to set colors for specific apps, or at least different notification types. In its post, the source also notes that the Galaxy M10 will look almost the same as the M20, but it will be both thicker and bulkier.
What We Know So Far
Thanks to the same source, we do know what to expect when it comes to the Galaxy M20’s back side as well. The phone will sport a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and in addition to that, you will also get two vertically-aligned cameras, which will be included in the top-left corner of the phone’s back side. An LED flash will be located right below those two cameras, while a 3.5mm headphone jack will be a part of the offering as well. The phone’s back side will be made out of polycarbonate, though that polycarbonate will have a glass-like finish it seems, or something of the sort. A Type-C port will be included on this device as well, compared to a micro USB port which Samsung plans to include on the Galaxy M10. The phone is expected to include a 5,000mAh battery on the inside, which is quite surprising, but there you go. Now, some specs for this phone also surfaced recently, and if that info is to be believed, the phone will feature a 6.3-inch fullHD+ Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The phone will be fueled by the Exynos 7904 64-bit octa-core processor, while 13 and 5-megapixel cameras will sit on the back of the phone. An 8-megapixel front-facing camera will also be a part of the package, while the phone is also expected to offer some form of fast charging.
Launch Date & Pricing
India is expected to be amongst the very first countries this phone arrives to, and as you can see based on its specs, this will be a mid-range smartphone. The Galaxy M20 will be more affordable than its Galaxy A counterparts, as it is expected to cost around $250, maybe a bit more. We still do not know when exactly will this phone become available, but it is expected to arrive at the very end of this month, some rumors have suggested that the launch event will take place on January 30. It seems like Samsung will wait for the end of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas before announcing this phone, as the device is not primarily aimed at the US market, and it remains to be seen if it will arrive to the US at all. The device will definitely hit India, along with some other Asian countries, quite probably, even though not much info surfaced regarding all that. The Galaxy M20 may find its way to Europe as well, time will tell. The same applies for the Galaxy M10, which will be a more affordable, bulkier, and thicker variant of the Galaxy M10.
