Mobile Fun recently obtained the official cases for the Huawei P30 and the Huawei P30 Pro, and these cases confirm many of the rumors about the design of the two upcoming flagships from the Chinese tech giant. One of the noticeable differences between the two smartphones is the handsets’ rear camera setups. The official cases suggest that the Huawei P30 will have a triple rear camera setup, as evidenced by the pill-shaped vertical cutout located at the upper left corner of the handset.
The cutout provides room for the three cameras and the LED flash. In contrast, the case for the Huawei P30 Pro adds a smaller vertical cutout beside the larger pill-shaped hole. This smaller cutout accommodates the sensors and the LED flash for the handsets, as the smartphone’s four rear cameras fill up the space provided by the larger case hole.
Another interesting difference between the two handsets that the official cases confirm is the presence of the headphone jack at the bottom of the Huawei P30, along with the USB Type-C port, the microphone, and the grills for the loudspeaker. In comparison, the Huawei P30 Pro does not include a headphone jack at the bottom of the display. In terms of the cases themselves, Huawei seems to offer several case designs to its customers. Among these cases is Smart View Flip Cover for the Huawei P30 series, which allows people to view notifications, weather, and time even if the case is closed, while another case design permits users to keep credit cards in the cover of the accessory.
Background: Numerous leaks already provided details about the design and specifications of the Huawei P30 smartphones, and while these official cases do not give any specific information about the handsets, it confirms the general features of the device’s design. Aside from the presence of the headphone jack and the difference in rear camera setups, another difference between the two handsets is the display. The Huawei P30 features a 6.1-inch flat screen while the Huawei P30 Pro sports a 6.47-inch curved-edge panel supplied by Samsung. In addition to the difference in the number of rear cameras, the Huawei P30 Pro will also reportedly feature the 10x optical zoom technology, enabling users to focus on a subject without losing image quality.
Specifications-wise, both handsets will feature the Kirin 980 chipset, a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, IP68 water and dust resistance certification, and support for NFC and Huawei’s proprietary charging solution SuperCharge. However, the Huawei P30 will reportedly come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Meanwhile, the Huawei P30 Pro will have 8GB of RAM, and there will be three storage options available for the smartphone, which include 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of internal flash storage. A 3,650mAh battery powers the Huawei P30, while the Huawei P30 Pro features a larger 4,200mAh unit. Software-wise, both handsets will likely ship with Android 9 Pie pre-installed, while Huawei’s proprietary skin, EMUI 9.1, will run on top of Google’s operating system.
Impact: The latest leaks corroborate previous rumors about the design of the Huawei P30 series, although the official cases did not provide any specific details about the handsets themselves. Nonetheless, this leak provides users a good idea about what to expect on the design of the Huawei P30 lineup.
