DOOGEE has just announced a new smartphone, the DOOGEE S40. This is the company’s new rugged smartphone which “can survive extreme temperatures, drops, dust, and also water”, says the company.
THe DOOGEE S40 definitely looks like a rugged phone, and its frame is made out of metal. The phone features two vertically-aligned cameras on the back, while a fingerprint scanner is included right below those two cameras. DOOGEE’s logo is visible on the back of the phone, while DOOGEE also decided to emphasize that this phone is IP68 certified on its back.
DOOGEEE conducted extensive tests using this smartphone. The company has dropped the device 20,000 times on six sides in what it calls the “micro drop test”, the phone has been dropped from 1.21 meters from 26 different angles. DOOGEE also claims that this phone can survive up to four hours at 60 degrees Celsius, and 24 hours at -30 degrees Celsius.
This device is 99-percent dustproof, it has been IP69K certified in addition to being IP68 certified, and it is protected against high water pressure (100 bar high water pressure, 80 degrees Celsius).
The DOOGEE S40 features a 5.5-inch 960 x 480 display, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage (hybrid setup). The phone is fueled by a quad-core processor by MediaTek, the MT6739, and it comes with a large 4,650mAh battery. That battery is capable of lasting you 21 days on standby, 105 hours of browsing the web, and 33 hours on a phonecall, says the company.
Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the phone, while you will find a single 5-megapixel camera on the phone’s front side. 8 and 5-megapixel cameras are located on the back of this handset, while the device supports 4G LTE connectivity. The phone comes with a number of camera modes as well, including bokeh, mono, night, and even a mode for advanced camera options. This smartphone even has an NFC chip using which you can make payments and what not.

The device is priced at $99.99, and the company has said that it will become available via Amazon in the near future as well.
