A new benchmark claims that the Samsung Galaxy A80, one of the upcoming mid-range smartphones from Samsung, will feature the Snapdragon 6150 chipset and 8GB of RAM.
This result is available on the website of popular benchmarking website, Geekbench, and the listing further reveals that at least one of the CPU clusters of the Snapdragon 6150 chipset, which will likely succeed Qualcomm’s existing Snapdragon 675 SoC, will run at a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz.
Moreover, the chipset inside the Galaxy A80 achieved a single-core score of 2,488 points and a multi-core score of 6,732 points. Like other recent smartphone offerings from Samsung Electronics, the Galaxy A80 will ship with Android 9 Pie pre-installed, although the proprietary skin of the South Korean tech giant, One UI, will run on top of Google’s operating system.
This latest benchmark result contradicts one of the recent rumors about the Galaxy A80. One recent report suggested that the handset will feature the Snapdragon 7150 chipset, another rumored mid-range processor offering from Qualcomm that supplies better performance compared to the Snapdragon 6150. While recent rumors indicate that Samsung will only launch the Galaxy A80, there is still the possibility that the company may still unveil a device named the Galaxy A90 and this handset may contain the more powerful chipset.
One of the stand-out features of the Galaxy A80 will be its camera sensors, which can take images from both the front and back of the handset through its rotating and sliding mechanism. The smartphone will reportedly feature three imaging modules, with the main camera sporting a sensor with a resolution of 48-megapixels and an aspect ratio of f/2.0.
On the other hand, the secondary camera will feature an 8-megapixel imaging module with an aspect ratio of f/2.4, and the handset will also ship with a Time-of-Flight sensor that will gather depth information for the handset. These sensors will rotate to the front and the back of the handset depending on the image that the person wants to capture. By using the same sensors for taking selfies and landscape images, the smartphone will offer consistency in the quality of the captured photographs.
Recent rumors also claim that the Galaxy A80 will ship with a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080. By using a sliding mechanism for its cameras, it is likely that the handset will not feature a notch or display cutouts seen in recent smartphones released by the South Korean tech giant. A 3,700mAh battery will power the handset, and the Galaxy A80 will feature support of 25W fast charging for quick top-ups of the device. Previous leaks also mention that the smartphone will have length of 165mm, width of 76.5-millimeters, and thickness of 9mm.
There are still conflicting reports about the specifications of the Galaxy A80, despite the possibility that the South Korean tech giant may launch the handset in the event scheduled on April 10th. However, what is clear based on the recent rumors is that this handset will feature a design that stands out from recent smartphone offerings from Samsung as well as from rival manufacturers.
