No longer the “best phone you can’t buy” for Americans. The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are available for pre-order from B&H Photo starting at just $599.
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro were announced earlier this month, and went up for pre-order in Europe (and a few other countries) shortly after the announcement. Now the devices that many expected would not make its way to the US, are making their way to the US. By way of B&H Photo.
This should come as no surprise, as B&H has sold previous smartphones that were not coming to the US officially. So to see the P30 and P30 Pro pop up there, that’s not a big surprise. But for those that want to check out the triple cameras on the P30 Pro and that crazy periscope camera, you can do so for a pretty modest price.
As expected, these phones were not made for US networks. So with that in mind, there is no support for Sprint nor Verizon, due to those being CDMA carriers. But they will support AT&T and T-Mobile’s 3G and 4G LTE networks (or 5G e if you’re on AT&T). There is still a caveat there though, as these smartphones likely won’t support all 4G LTE on bands on either carrier. B&H is not listing the bands that each device support, so it’s hard to see which ones are supported and which are not. But don’t expect T-Mobile’s newer 600MHz band to be supported.
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are pretty similar, when it comes to specs and features, which should come as no surprise to most people. The P30 does have a smaller display at 6.1-inches versus the 6.47-inch display on the P30 Pro. The other big difference is in the cameras. The P30 sports a triple camera setup: 40-megapixel wide-angle, 20-megapixel ultra-wide angle and a 8-megapixel telephoto. The P30 Pro has a few differences, and it’s also a quad-camera setup: 40-megapixel wide-angle, 20-megapixel ultra-wide angle, with a 8-megapixel telephoto and then a ToF or Time of Flight sensor included. The P30 also has a headphone jack, while the P30 Pro does not.
Right now, the Huawei P30 Pro has the best camera on the market, and now those in the US are actually able to buy the thing which is a great thing. While Huawei is not officially selling these phones in the US, it is still going to honor the warranty on these phones in the US. So if you need to exchange it for any reason, Huawei will take care of you.
B&H Photo is selling both the P30 and P30 Pro in the black, Aurora and Crystal colors. The P30 is going to be priced at $599 for the 128GB model and the P30 Pro starts at $899 for the 256GB version. B&H Photo states that it expects the P30 to start shipping on April 29, but there’s no date listed for the P30 Pro yet. However, one would assume it would have a relatively similar availability date to the P30.
