The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are now receiving a new stable update, and the case of both phones we’re looking at OxygenOS 9.0.5. The changelog for both devices is identical, and it doesn’t really bring any new features to the table, but it brings more security and a number of fixes that you may be interested in.
First and foremost, once you install this update, you will get Android security patch for April fo 2019. Not, in terms of improvements, OxygenOS 9.0.5 improves stability of the phone app on both the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.
If you’re using OnePlus’ Parallel Apps feature, you will be glad to know that this update will fix an issue where parallel apps show your primary account only, and it will also fix an issue with downloading pictures when you use WhatsApp as part of the Parallel Apps feature. That issue has been around for a while, and OnePlus has patched it up now.
And last, but not least, this update fixes one specific problem for Gaming mode, an issue with receiving calls via third-party applications while in gaming mode. That is pretty much everything that OnePlus listed in the OxygenOS 9.0.5 changelog.
It is worth noting that this update is rolling out as we speak, but we’re looking at a gradual update, as per usual. A small number of devices will receive it at first (first couple of days), after which the rest of the device will start getting it, but not at the same time.
It has been a while since the OnePlus 5 and 5T users received a stable update, so this is definitely a welcomed update. Both OnePlus 5 and 5T users did receive a number of beta updates in the last couple of months, though, bringing several new features to the two devices, though OnePlus still did not opt to include those features in OxygenOS 9.0.5. The company will probably include them in the next stable update, though, at least some of them.
The latest OxygenOS Open Beta update for the OnePlus 5 and 5T arrived mid-April. In the case of the OnePlus 5, we’re looking at OxygenOS Open Beta 30, while the OnePlus 5T received Open Beta 28 update.
That update actually added the Parking location feature to the company’s launcher, while a tutorial has been added to the Shelf. In case you use the Quick Reply feature often, this update also brought Quick Reply for the landscape mode, so that you can quickly respond to messages even if you’re gaming, consuming media, or whatever else you may be doing while in landscape mode.
Those of you who installed this beta update also received the same security patch as the OxygenOS 9.0.5 stable update brought, not to mention that the network speed display improvements were also brought by OnePlus, along with several other changes.
These two phones were introduced back in 2017, but both of them are still kicking strong, their performance is still really good, and OnePlus is keeping them both really much alive by releasing various updates.
