Following the Open Beta update for the OnePlus 6 and 6T that arrived a couple of days ago, the company has just started rolling out a new stable update for the two devices. OnePlus is currently seeding the OxygenOS 9.0.5 for the OnePlus 6, and OxygenOS 9.0.13 for the OnePlus 6T.
The changelog is identical for both devices, but this update does not really bring the changes that were introduced in an Open Beta the other day. In fact, changes in this stable update are nowhere near the Open Beta, as not a single entry in this changelog is the same.
Once you install this update on your OnePlus 6 or OnePlus 6T device, you will get an Android security patch for March 2019, while the Open Beta update that was released recently brought Android security patch for April.
In addition to that, OnePlus also listed general bug fixes and system improvements in the changelog, as it seems like a number of smaller issues were ironed out in this update. And finally, a new feedback tool for reporting bugs and submitting feature requests has been added in the “Community” section, just in case you ever need it. This is actually a nice addition, as it will give users a chance to communicate with the company even more directly, and reporting various bugs will be easier than ever.
Those are all the changes that the company mentioned here, support for quick reply in the landscape mode, shelf tutorial, and various other additions that have been mentioned in the latest Open Beta update will have to wait a bit longer, as such changes will probably be introduced in the next stable update that arrives to these two phones.
As per usual, this update will arrive to your device over the air (OTA), but it is an incremental update, which means that it will not arrive to all of you at the same time. Some of you may have already received this update, while others will have to wait for a couple of days. OnePlus first releases an update to a small percentage of users, and then begins a wider rollout several days later, just to be extra sure no surprising bugs have managed to creep in. Those of you who were planning on using a VPN in order to install this update, don’t bother, as it won’t work, the update is not region-based.
The OnePlus 6 and 6T will continue getting updates from the company despite the fact the OnePlus 7 series is on the way. The OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G are expected to arrive next month. Rumors are claiming that the three devices will arrive on May 14, but the company’s CEO will confirm the exact date of the OnePlus 7 launch tomorrow, on a Tuesday, so stay tuned for that.
The OnePlus 7 will actually resemble the OnePlus 6T quite a bit, in terms of the design, the only difference will be noticeable in an LED flash positioning, and the OnePlus 7 will probably be a bit thicker. The OnePlus 7 Pro will be a completely different story if leaks are to be believed, as the phone will not include a display notch, but will instead sport a pop-up camera. In addition to that, the device will likely ship with a curved display, while rumors are also claiming that it will become the company’s very first smartphone with a QHD+ display.
