Motorola One Pro Joins A Growing List Of Expected Mid-Rangers

The list of Motorola One variants expected to launch in this year’s lineup has now grown to five, following yet another leak from industry insider Evan Blass. There haven’t been any new details divulged for the time being but the latest device designation to make its way to the group, the Motorola One Pro, may provide some hints regarding where the gadget my fall amid its counterparts.

Based on the naming convention followed by the other Motorola One devices – the Motorola One, One Power, One Vision, and One Action – the newest device will likely be the most powerful in terms of performance. It may also end up being the priciest device and simply pool some of the best attributes from the other handsets in the lineup. It isn’t clear what exactly any of that will mean if and when the handset launches, however.

The Motorola lineup so far

As of this writing, the Motorola One “line” for 2019 consists of a single device. Announced earlier this month, the Motorola One Vision brings exactly the specifications and further bolstering that might be expected, given its model designation.

Namely, the Motorola One Vision is a smartphone focused on providing the best cinematic and photography experience the company can muster for the price. That means the €299 mid-ranger – confined to Europe and Latin America – comes equipped with a 6.3-inch 21:9 CinemaVision display panel. A 25-megapixel selfie snapper and primary 48-megapixel “quad pixel” Samsung sensor – which uses clusters of four pixels to improve various attributes in the resulting 12-megapixel photo – are included.

The Samsung-built Exynos 9610 chipset underneath the hood of that gadget packs in four Cortex A73 CPU cores running at a maximum clock speed of 2.3GHz and four Cortex A53 cores clocked at up to 1.7GHz. That’s backed up by 4GB of RAM and a 3,500mAh battery.

If Motorola follows a similar convention with its other gadgets, the Motorola One Power will likely bring a bigger battery while the One Action might bolster ruggedization instead.

The Motorola One Pro could speculatively bring the best of each handset, including the screen, camera, and battery life of the others – assuming Motorola does follow that convention – coupled with a better SoC and RAM. Motorola could feasibly boost other attributes too by including a second depth-sensing camera under the front panel or including a slightly bigger panel, to begin with.

The odd ‘release’ timeframe

The details surrounding the presumably incoming Motorola One devices are still very slim on the ground at this point and should be taken with some degree of skepticism. It isn’t at all unusual for months to go by in between the launch of multiple smartphones from a single line or for smartphones to be launched with a widely diversified array of specializations.

Information about a potential timeline for each of the handsets has not been revealed but IFA may be a safe bet. That’s the next-in-line major mobile event of the year, taking place in Berlin in early September, so Motorola may plan on revealing more of its hand around the same time.
