OnePlus 7 Pro Update Improves Camera Performance, Fixes Ambient Display

OnePlus had recently promised to bring camera improvements to the OnePlus 7 Pro via an update, and the company just delivered on that promise. OxygenOS 9.5.4 is now rolling out to global variants of the phone, and OxygenOS 9.5.5 to EU models. Do note that this is the same update but it comes with a different model number due to recent regulations in the EU.

Camera improvements are not the only change this update brings, however, we’ll talk more about that in a second. Regarding the camera, OnePlus has improved image quality in HDR scenarios with this update, while low light image quality has also been improved, as requested by the community, as per the company’s changelog.

The company has also tweaked white balance in several scenarios when using the phone’s cameras, as the phone had issues in some instances. On top of that, fixed focus issue has also been fixed, as it was creating problems in certain scenarios. That is more or less it as far as camera changes are concerned.

Some users have been having issues with Double Tap to Wake and Ambient Display, and that includes tap to show the fingerprint scanner icon as well. In other words, users were forced to use the power key as they had no way of calling up the fingerprint scanner icon to unlock the OnePlus 7 Pro, the lift to wake did not work either. These reports started coming a couple of days ago, and this update should fix all that, notes OnePlus in its changelog.

If you’ve been having audio delays while gaming, and having your Bluetooth headset connected, well, that has been fixed now as well. In addition to everything we’ve mentioned, the company also listed general bug fixes and improvements in its changelog, which is a standard addition to every update.

There is one more serious issue that some users are currently having with the OnePlus 7 Pro that we are not sure if this update fixes or not, but it probably does not, as it is not listed separately. Ghost touch issues have started plaguing some OnePlus 7 Pro units. If you’re still having issues with that after this update, OnePlus did promise to fix that in the near future.

This update had started rolling out to OnePlus 7 Pro users, but do note that it is a staged rollout, which means not everyone will get it at once. Over-The-Air (OTA) update had started reaching consumers, but it will hit a limited number of users first, and get a broader release in a couple of days, after OnePlus makes sure that no additional bugs crawled into the build. Your phone will notify you once the update is available.

OnePlus is encouraging users to report any additional bugs if they managed to find them, as the company already has a list of some additional fixes that are coming to the OnePlus 7 Pro, while the company also said that it will continue improving the phone’s camera. The OnePlus 7 Pro has the right camera hardware, and it can only get better moving forward via software updates / tweaks.
