Press Render Leaks Show Bland OnePlus 7 Pro Colors, Design

New press renders have now begun cropping up online, showing the ‘Pro’ variant of the upcoming OnePlus 7 in the more stately color configurations the gadget is expected to be available in at launch. The apparent features of the flagship killer, regarding its external design, are not entirely unexpected since leaks have been ongoing for quite some time.

Three cameras are seen in a verticle configuration on the rear panel, coupled with an LED flash, and button placement tracks closely with previous handsets from the company. On the front panel, there’s no sign of a camera hole or notch, matching the current expectation that OnePlus will utilize a mechanical pop-out camera instead.

The curved glass is remarkably similar to the OnePlus 6T and will reportedly be the same display with an even spread of drastically-reduced bezels all around compared to the One Plus 7 Pro’s smaller counterpart, the OnePlus 7.

Only two colors are shown via the new leaks, presumably Nebula Blue and a nearly black Mirror Gray hue. Neither tone shows any gradient and the third expected color, an “Almond” brown, is conspicuously absent but more leaks are expected to follow soon.

Other expectations from the OnePlus 7 Pro

In terms of internal specs, the OnePlus 7 Pro is one of two variants of the next-generation flagship killer from OnePlus and is itself expected to arrive in two versions.

Leaks have indicated that the OnePlus 7 Pro and Pro 5G will be nearly identical in every way with the exception of 5G connectivity. Aside from that, both will ship with a Snapdragon 855 processor, a 48-megapixel primary camera, 6GB or 8GB RAM options, and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.0 flash storage if rumors are to be believed.

OnePlus has additionally teased that its expected 6.7-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) curved OLED panel will have a 90Hz refresh rate while rumors have suggested that might be variable to further distinguish the OnePlus 7 Pro from rivals.

That will all be powered by a 4,000mAh capacity battery that can be charged via 30W “Warp Charge,” and Android 9 Pie.

For pricing, the current expectation is that the OnePlus 7 Pro will be several hundred dollars more expensive than its predecessor the OnePlus 6T. More directly, it has been indicated that, in Europe, the price may range from €749 to €829 depending on the model chosen while the OnePlus 6T started at €549 in Europe.

Very …forgettable

The overall look of the device, as shown in the alleged renders, does not seem to be cheap but is almost forgettable in how similar the design is to others. That includes gadgets such as the OnePlus 6T but those made by other OEMs, including those from the handset maker’s sister company OPPO. That’s only accented further by the color pallet OnePlus has apparently chosen to work with.

The aesthetics don’t tell the whole story however and although a huge amount of information has already leaked, OnePlus is not a manufacturer to allow every detail to break out before launch. So there will undoubtedly be plenty of redeeming and unexpected features at its official launch, currently slated for May 14. More importantly, renders rarely provide a full picture. So this smartphone may actually look, and more importantly feel, quite different in person compared what appearances in images might betray.
