Huawei Confirms Android Q For Its Phones Despite The US Ban

Huawei has just announced not only that Android Q will be coming to a number of its smartphones, but the company also listed the devices that will receive it first. To make things even more interesting, this information was published by Huawei Mobile Spain, so it definitely applies to European models.

Along with Android Q, Huawei will be rolling out EMUI 10 on the listed devices and those devices include: Huawei P30 Pro, P30, P30 lite, Mate 20 X (5G), Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20, P Smart Z, P Smart+ 2019, P Smart 2019, P20 Pro, P20, Mate 10 Pro, PORSCHE DESIGN Mate 10, PORSCHE DESIGN Mate 20 RS, Mate 20 X, Mate 10, and Mate 20 lite.

As you can see, there are 17 different smartphone models included here, so Huawei means business. This seems to ease concerns that those of you who own some of these devices will not get an Android Q update, which became a concern following the ban that was handed to Huawei by the US.

As most of you know by now, the US issued a ban for Huawei to do business with the US-based companies, which prompted Google to cut ties with Huawei as well, as the Huawei Mate 20 Pro was removed from the Android Q Beta program. The phone rejoined soon after, as Huawei was granted a 90-day grace period, and Google is still trying to figure things out in order to continue providing full support to one of the largest Android-based smartphone manufacturers in the world.

It was hinted, by the US President Trump, that the whole Huawei situation could be resolved via a new trade deal with China, but nothing has been resolved just yet. Huawei was accused of espionage, and the ban was issued due to security concerns, according to an official report, at least.

None of that seems to bother Huawei, as the company is ready for the next stage of its Android journey, as it will push out Android Q to its devices. This whole issue will hopefully be resolved in the near future, so that Huawei doesn’t get hurt too bad from the whole deal, as the company’s sales already took a considerable hit.

Huawei was planning on becoming the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer next year, but it seems like those plans will not come to fruition, at least if the ban continues for the foreseeable future.

The company is working on an Android alternative, just in case, an operating system that is called either Hongmeng or Ark, depending on which rumor you end up believing. We’ll see what will come out of it in the end, but it would be best for all if the US and China settle everything in the near future, so that Huawei’s smartphones could continue getting proper Android updates, and continue growing.

That would be best for consumers as Samsung and Huawei are by far the largest Android smartphone manufacturers, and if Huawei takes a dive, Samsung will remain unchallenged.
